Practice

Victor provides counseling services to adults, adolescents, and children. He believes that although we sometimes can’t control what happens to us, we can learn from, grow, and emerge from difficult periods of our lives in better shape then we were before. By welcoming the suffering parts of ourselves more fully into our lives with presence, courage, compassion, and love, we paradoxically discover what we need to heal, grow, and thrive.

While moving at the speed of safety, Victor often draws on person-centered, somatic, transpersonal, IFS, emotion-focused, and strengths-based counseling styles in his work with others.

He specializes in treating adult c-PTSD, supporting people during challenging life transitions, and helping people cultivate wellness after life altering events such as traumas, near death experiences, and spiritually transformative experiences.

Education & Experience

Victor received his M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University in May 2022. He is a Resident in Counseling, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and has 15 years of experience providing therapy and wellness services to the community.

Victor is a trained facilitator of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR) and has led MBSR groups with his wife since 2016. Victor has advanced training from Pacifica Graduate Institute in transpersonal counseling and depth psychology, and is an EMDR trained clinician through Thrive Works. He is also an experienced wilderness guide, having facilitating outdoor focused youth expeditions, personal development, and leadership workshops for nearly a decade.

He is author of The Hidden Gifts of Addiction, a four-time award-winning book exploring the healing of trauma and addiction through self-compassion and mindfulness. He is also a contributor to the popular psychology journal, The Wise Brain Bulletin.

Outside of counseling, in addition to his mental health counseling career, Victor has a PhD in Photonics from Cornell University (8/2014), and spent 15 years studying the ultrafast and quantum physics of light in academia and industry. Victor lives in the Richmond area with his wife and son. He loves enjoying nature with his family and playing music and sports.
